CarillionWSP work on behalf of the Highways Agency as Managing Agent Contractor (MAC) for Area 12. This area encompasses the motorways and trunk roads of Yorkshire and peripheral areas from Skipton to Kingston-upon-Hull, Grimsby to Woodall and Scarborough to Ashton-under-Lyme.

CarillionWSP is a joint venture, our parent companies, Carillion Roads and WSP Civils, came together to bid for the MAC contract and in early 2003 it was announced the tender was successful. The contract began 1st July 2003 and will run for five years with a possible two year extension.

Some of the key duties of the MAC and our supply chain partners including Atkins Odlin, Prismo, RMC, Roadtech, RPS and Tarmac are:

maintenance of highways, bridges and other structures, footpaths and cycleways 24 hour incident support winter maintenance dedicated customer care design and implementation of highway improvements management of specialist contractors liaison with police and local authorities and statutory undertakers abnormal load movements street lighting and sign maintenance verge and landscape maintenance

180 staff and 180 operatives ensure that CarillionWSP operate on the network 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Whilst some of our employees have over 30 years experience in the industry others only joined us in July 2003. We work together to provide a service that keeps our routes safe and free-flowing.
