A modern arena for Stockholm
It is an outdoor arena for football with capacity for 50.000 for concerts. It will have a removable roof for full year use. When the arena is completed, it will be a milestone in Swedish football history – a location in the highest European standards.
The Swedish Football Association, Solna City, Peab, Fabege and Jernhusen are in agreement over ownership, operation and financing of the new national arena for football. The arena will be the hub of a whole new urban area, which will grow northwest of the Solna station. Located in what is today an unpopulated area, it will be possible to create a modern arena for football, concerts and big events. International and other matches are played at Råsunda, during the construction period between 2006-2010.
WSP's role in the project
WSP's architects (since the beginning of July 2008 called LINK arkitektur) where involved early in the project. They worked jointly with Roman Wozniak Architects, Berg Architect Bureau and HOK Sports. Other business areas of WSP also participated. We have done a lot of work in fire, risk and security.
