Currently there are 45,000 lighting assets, on the Transport of London network, of which there are approximately 32,000 lighting columns together with a considerable number of illuminated signs, bollards, high mast, subway fittings and tunnels.
The current asset is maintained through the three Highway Maintenance Works Contracts in the South, Central and North areas and these current maintenance contracts cover the following areas of lighting:-
- Non Routine Maintenance – Night Scouting and Fault fixing
- Routine Maintenance – Block Change and Cleaning
- Electrical Inspection and Testing
- Painting
- Emergencies and Knockdowns
- Location and Maintenance of Underground Cables
