A global road transport information resource
The Global Transport Knowledge Partnership (gTKP) is a platform for disseminating key road transport knowledge, best-practice and experience to and among practitioners in developing and transition countries. gTKP covers seven key themes in road transport; rural development, finance and economics, climate change and environment, urban development, road safety, social development and governance.
The Department International Development wants to see gTKP develop into a well-recognised, independent and global source of key transport knowledge, expertise and knowledge-sharing driven by developing and transition countries.
WSP is managing the project which includes running the gTKP website, information dissemination services and coordinating a network of experts in the sector who engage with practitioners and international organisations and provide specialist knowledge.
The central challenge is reaching potential users, capturing and sharing their experiences and helping them apply expertise gained elsewhere. Many practitioners are not currently part of global networks, may not have regular access to the internet and may not have the resources to apply knowledge to their roads projects.
Services provided by WSP:
- Developing new website and maintaining the website
- Promoting gTKP and engaging partners and users
- Coordinating work of ‘Theme Champions’ – experts who provide input into each of the themes covered by gTKP
- Providing technical input to gTKP
