WSP will calculate the number of potential passengers using a new rail link. What are the travel preferences and habits of today’s railway users? Can a new rail route influence passengers to change their habits? A number of different questions have to be investigated before moving further into the planning process.
WSP can draw on its experience and knowledge for all project phases, from the initial research to the complete railway package. Feasibility studies examine areas such as potential railway sections, together with their effects on efficiency and the environment and any technological and financial implications.

Maps are analysed and national interests considered. The expert advice of bridge and tunnel specialists is frequently sought. WSP also carries out the important Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
