About Cycity
The project aims to improve knowledge about cyclists’ attitudes and how they plan their cycle routes with a view to providing an improved cycle infrastructure in Swedish cities. The knowledge gained will also increase Sweden’s opportunities to export its specialist expertise in transport planning and urban development to take advantage of the fact that several major cities, such as London, New York and Paris, are significantly increasing their investment in cycling infrastructure.
Part of the project is to analyse cyclists’ attitudes to developed new features for a sophisticated journey planner for cyclists, that can be accessed via the internet or mobile phone, and will provide a range of route options. For example, the cyclist could choose between the fastest cycling route or one that is free from motor traffic.
