Kemira Kemi AB manufactures hydrogen peroxide at Kemira´s site in Helsingborg. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is mainly used for bleaching of pulp and textile but also for deinking recycled paper, disinfection, waste gas and water treatment. The main raw material in the process is natural gas which is converted to hydrogen gas (H2) in a reformer and air is used as an oxygen source. Hydrogen peroxide is manufactured and delivered as a 49.5% water solution.
Kemira applied for and received a permit to increase the production of hydrogen peroxide at the site in Helsingborg. This permit includes the manufacturing of 60 000 tonnes hydrogen peroxide annually (calculated as 100% of the compound). The processing of the permit application took place at the Environmental Court in Växjö. WSP Environmental assisted Kemira Kemi AB throughout the application process including preparing the EIA and the technical description.
WSP Environmental partnered with Kemira Kemi AB throughout the consultative phase and submitted the EIA during the proceedings at the Environmental Court.
