The purpose with the environmental feasibility study was to survey the previous operations in the current property; it was made with help of archive studies and interviews.
A simplified risk appraisal followed based on the history. The risk to find pollutions in the soil and water was estimated as small and limited to spill from petroleum products, except from two areas where the risk was estimated as higher. Field instructions for shafting were established to be able to locate and set eventual pollutions. Some founding’s at occasional places were made during the overall tests in the area.
Assemblage tests on by-material were made continuously together with separate tests on susceptive polluted material to make the building process easier. Occasional founding was made, petroleum products had polluted the soil. The soil was sent to an appropriate depot. A non cleaned oil tank was found with oil damaged soil. The surrounding soil were analysed to establish an eventual leakage.
WSP has also contributed to the library project by construction of for example the acoustics, environmental co-ordination, advices regarding glass and inspection of control and surveillance.
