Project management

WSP has a unique approach to Project Management that is tailored to suit the needs of each particular project. WSP projects are developed progressively to achieve pre-set goals (in terms of scope, quality, cost, time etc) using appropriate management methodology and tools many of which are developed using WSP in house expertise and adjusted in accordance with the practical experience.

WSP provides the services necessary to successfully complete the project to the satifaction of the Client taking into account the following activities:

  • Employment of a systematic management approach to the Services embracing sound management principals.
  • Providing assistance and support to the client, as required, and working together to develop a high performing team (between the client and the WSP Project management team and between the Consultants and Works Contractors).
  • Supporting and participating as required in independent Project reviews.
  • Participating in workshops to mutually agree on methods and procedures for performing the services.
  • Providing information requested by the client, to support the appraisal of the performance of the WSPs assigned personnel in the delivery of the Services. Such information includes systems, methods, and procedures for performing the Services including; calculations, working drawings, specifications, purchase requisitions and design studies (if applicable); estimates; resource planning; schedules; procedures; and alternative studies.
  • Maintaining close management alignment with the client during execution of Services.
  • Working with the client to develop Project co-ordination teams to provide clear and consistent management direction/expectations as regards behaviour, teamwork and success criteria.
  • Actively supporting and participating in audit programs established in conjunction with the client and performing Project Quality Audits (PQAs). Follow-up in a timely manner, on audit findings and recommendations as well as ensuring that findings and recommendations are communicated and implemented throughout the Project.

The multitude of different requirements and activities in complex projects not only requires planning and control in the preliminary phases of the project but also during the actual construction, i.e. monitoring and control is necessary on site. This site monitoring can also be performed by WSP.

This refers not only to the managing of the contractual establishment of the construction in accordance with the detailed designs but also to the observance of the cost and time schedules and of the rules of engineering.
