The new state-of-the-art development is owned and operated by the University of Nevada School of Medicine and the Keep Memory Alive Foundation, a Nevada non-profit organization. The 5-story medical clinic houses three elements in Alzheimer’s care including clinical care, neuroimaging suites, and clinical research.
In addition to the primary Alzheimer’s care facilities, the program includes a large central atrium, a 2-story catering kitchen, and a 3-story Museum of the Mind. This second programmatic half of the center will be used for public education and fundraising events and is intended to be a place for community learning. The Museum of the Mind is an interactive, Smithsonian style, hands on exhibit space where schoolchildren and visitors can learn about the brain. The catering kitchen will be used to serve special functions for banquet style events which will be held in the central atrium space. There will be a flowing, sculptured steel and glass enclosure over this large activity center. Other programmatic spaces include a small resource library, a conference room, multi-purpose room, staff break room, a small public cafe and administrative offices for the center.
The project comprises approximately 62,000 gross square feet on multiple levels occupying a footprint of approximately 30,000 square feet.
