WSP Asia has extensive experience in Structural Design in Hong Kong and internationally.

Our engineers have a feel for the properties and behavior of materials and the ability to deal both quantitatively and qualitatively with the proposed Structural form.  They are creative, practical engineers with good technical training and modern analytical tools, experienced in working as a team with the client, fellow professionals and contractors to achieve a common goal.

In addition to the more standard reinforced concrete structures for commercial and residential buildings, WSP Asia has developed considerable expertise and experience in the design of specialist steel structures and roofs such as the In-flight Aviary at Ocean Park, the entrance arena to Shatin New Town Plaza.

We have within our staff Registered Structural Engineers which allow us to provide a complete design and submission service.

Our structural engineers take a lead role in managing the WSP multi-disciplinary offering to ensure that the client receives an integrated engineering solution from initial site acquisition, through the planning process and into the construction and delivery phase. By working hand in hand with all members of the design team we aim to ensure a smooth passage through the statutory and legislative processes to ensure that the vision for the building is achievable in a practical way.

We are very often dealing with challenging ground conditions caused by the nature of the ground or the infrastructure that runs through it. We also have to face the challenge of making a structure efficient in its design - minimising cost and effect on the environment; and optimising its utilisation through reducing slab thickness and hence storey heights, and maximising its free spans and lowering the impact of structural columns.
