02 July 2010

We are proud to have one of our Green Experts as Guest Speaker at this year's GBCSA Convention and Exhibition.

WSP Expert at 2010 GBCSA Convention

The 3rd Annual GBCSA Convention and Exhibition has an amazing line up of local and international green building experts and our Richard Palmer is one of them.

WSP has grown over the years to become one of the most diverse engineering firms worldwide.  This was possible by acquiring targeted specialised engineering businesses in order to expand our range of skills.  The integration of these businesses into the WSP culture was carefully matched with organic growth, to reach a delicate balance between outstanding skills integration, continuity and leadership.

A Fine example is  Richard Palmer Mechanical Engineer WSP Africa,  guest speaker at the GBCSA (Green Building Council of South Africa) Annual Event held in Cape Town. After 4 years at the University of Cape Town, and an interesting period with the South African Breweries Ltd, Richard joined Advanced Environmental in Sydney (now Built Ecology), Richard was involved with a range of projects including the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Macquarie Bank Building in Sydney, Australian War Memorial and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Pacific  Head Quarters in Hawaii.

He has subsequently returned to the WSP business in Africa focusing on the development of green engineering within the business and the progress of sustainable urban design and engineering within the South African property industry; sitting on the TWG of the Green Star Retail Tool.

β€œAt WSP, empowering our people is paramount to our future.”

We at WSP believe passionately that we have a responsibility to be innovative and contribute actively to sustainability as part of our work.  We come up with new ideas and services that ensure we remain the leader in sustainability.
