The Province of the Eastern Cape’s Department of Transport and Roads has awarded WSP the contract to supervise the installation of signs following a previous appointment to investigate various aspects of signage on the R63, R62, R75 and R102 in the Eastern Cape. The supply and erect contract started in December 2008 and is scheduled for completion by November 2009.
The City of Johannesburg has appointed WSP to design FIFA Confederation Cup and World Cup signage, both temporary signs for the specific events and permanent guidance signs, for identified routes that lead to the specific stadiums, park and ride facilities and practice events. This contract got underway in October 2008 and was completed in January this year.
The Cradle of Humankind and Dinokeng appointed WSP to design signage for the tourism routes and generate policy documentation, a project that got underway in January 2009 and is scheduled for completion by May 2009.
WSP was also appointed at Ngqura Port located in the Coega Industrial Development Zone near Port Elizabeth to do the signage for the port. Work on the project began in November 2008 with completion scheduled for May 2009.
WSP has just begun a three-year contract awarded by the Mpumalanga provincial government to review all signage, inventory, tenders, policies and supervision of the term contracts, which includes supply and erection by manufacturers.
The Sidibeng district municipality has also awarded WSP a three-year contract to review all signage, inventory, tenders, policies and supervision of the term contracts, which includes supply and erection by manufacturers.

WSP Systems is involved in the development of road traffic and road traffic sign legislation and road traffic sign policy to specific road authority requirements. In addition to designing various signing systems, including guidance, tourism and pedestrian signs, WSP Systems designs temporary signing systems at roadworks and signing systems for world status events. The company also carries out road safety audits and accident statistic analysis.
