WSP works in countries throughout the world and we have to adapt to a wide range of cultures and business practices. However, the risks of bribery and corruption are widespread, and a significant challenge for our industry. We support the measures being taken by Transparency International to reduce bribery and corruption, and WSP has senior level representation on both the UK Anti-Corruption Forum and Transparency International (UK) committees.
As demonstrated in our Business Ethics Policy, our commitment to business integrity is clear and unequivocal as we firmly believe that dishonest practices distort markets and are wasteful of resources. We condemn corrupt and fraudulent practices and require transparency, integrity and honesty in all aspects of our business. WSP companies, our staff and agents are prohibited from either giving or receiving payments, gifts or inducements to any person for the purposes of securing any improper business or other advantage.
In conjunction with the introduction of our Business Ethics Policy document, we have commenced training on business integrity and, early in 2007, introduced an independent confidential whistle-blowing hotline that is open to all staff throughout the Group.
