Development cooperation

WSP provides a range of management and engineering consultancy services to developing countries and countries in economic transition worldwide through WSP International Management Consulting (UK).

Our special fields of expertise are infrastructure and organisational development co-operation.  We are involved in appraising, advising, planning, engineering, managing, monitoring, evaluating and training.  Our resources include specialists in governance, financial and private sector development, management, economics, urban and regional planning and social development, as well as engineering skills, upon which we were founded in the mid twentieth century.

Having worked for many years in developing and transitional countries, we have learnt from both successful projects and more difficult ones, and adapted our skills to the challenges of public sector management and social and attitudinal change.

Our purpose is to contribute to change and sustainable development.  To achieve lasting change, sensitively, we involve ourselves as quickly as possible with clients' operations.  Our approach, therefore, is 'hands-on', but always with a proper regard to the contractual relationship between client and consultant – a relationship which must preserve a combination of involvement and detachment if it is to work to our clients' best advantage. We greatly value the relationships, long or short term, which make possible the provision of high quality, client-centred consulting interventions.
