The project involved the design and construction of a mobile transmission network for Orange. The transmission sites included towers, rooftops, upgrades and internal rooms. WSP provided planning, design, construction, health & safety compliance and planning supervisor services.
WSP surveyed over 350 sites for Orange. The majority of these sites were located on building rooftops. The building structures used for rooftop installations vary from high rise tower blocks to church towers and school buildings. Each design required:
An assessment of the structural integrity of the new “secondary” structure carrying the telecommunications equipment.
- An assessment of the structural integrity of the existing primary building structure.
- An assessment of Health and Safety legislation, safe working procedures and risks.
- The specification of materials, maintenance, electrical works and access equipment.
- The adoption of innovative design solutions in order to satisfy planning constraints.
WSP’s specialist project team was capable of assessing the structural integrity at each site, assess maintenance requirements, manage site provider interfaces and specify safe access systems.
- Our project delivery approach provided Orange with the:
- Maximum return on investment through efficient and cost effective design solutions.
- Compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
- Delivery of site provider and stakeholder requirements.
- Provision of safe access for operational and maintenance activities.
