WSP has extensive experience of providing services for the drug industry, which has specific demands relating to cleanliness, safety issues and operational reliability.
The 23 000 sq m research facility, which includes animal pens and servicing facilities, is divided inside by glass walls to enable contact between the laboratories, open-plan offices and production facilities. WSP designed the power, telecoms and transport systems, while also researching and proposing suitable sites for cameras, technical specifications and technical drawings for tendering for camera equipment.
These facilities are also subject to specific reliability standards—no power outage is permissible. Accordingly, WSP installed power back-up to make the building independent and ensure operations are never disrupted.
WSP also provided landscape design for the project, designing a tranquil courtyard garden for use of the staff, with a waterfall built of locally quarried granite in a woodland setting.
